Can your website really effect sales?

When was the last time you injected an extra bit of oomph into your website? Don’t think it matters? Well, think again. We have found research that has a clear outcome of worn-out websites having a knock-on effect for the rest of your business…

‘Buffering….buffering…buffering…’ How long do you wait when you see that little clock in the middle of your screen? Maybe we’re just short on patience, but the answer…not long. What about visiting a site that’s not even online, or has a load of obvious mistakes? How forgiving are you? 1&1 research from this year was conducted with 1500 consumers and the outcome…we’re not too forgiving on the old and slow-moving website front. As consumers, we have never been more aware of the importance of a fast moving environment, and least of all in the digital world. With broadband available in most places, Wifi and internet hotspots cropping up more and more, we expect a fast paced digital environment where we can get on, get in and get out, all within the space of a few minutes. We are becoming more inpatient it seems when we come across slow moving, faulty or even off-line websites due to maintenance.

In the research, 1&1 found that 38% of consumers would decide to avoid a company in the future if they incurred a faulty website, whilst 44% admit to being more critical of websites than they were five years ago. The CEO at 1&1, Oliver Mauss said that unreliable websites reflect badly on business of all types and sizes. When customers are faced with faulty or offline sites, they will look elsewhere and are liable not to return again. In a world fast moving, ever-adapting technology and in the era of digital, customers have exceptionally high expectations, and it’s essential that if a business is to succeed, then the website is the number one area to be developed and maintained. The choice of a decent website package has the ability to make or break a business, and can lead to a knock on effect of sales, customer satisfaction and brand loyalty.

Nowadays, there are plenty of website development experts offering competitive prices for amazing work and detail. You can purchase packages from as little as £10 a month that provide industry expert choices. The packages are designed for every level of business and hold everything that you would need to develop a creative to be set ‘live’ and remain successful with your consumers. Slow running websites are our number one gripe, so be sure not to plague your site with high mega pixel images and banners.

All in all, websites need to be managed on a day to day basis. For most of us in business now, this is second nature, but our piece of advice…don’t get too complacent. With the savvy consumer always looking for the next best thing, be sure that your website is up to date and checked regularly, or you may be losing returning custom…
